Toolish ∴ Adblocker

You open a website and these annoying adverts popping up? Or you just want to watch a video online but you can’t reach the play button symbol because everything is full of advertising? Well, this is how these websites or services make their money. But there is a way how you can suppress these pop-ups.

For that, you need an add-on tool that is called Adblocker. There are different kinds of Adblockers available of which everyone has the same function. To use this blocker you need to download it in the web browser you’re using. It makes no sense to get one for Mozilla Firefox when you’re using Google Chrome.

Simply open your browser and type in the search engine something like “Adblocker Chrome”.Bildschirmfoto 2017-04-14 um 15.38.09

Your search results might differ from my suggestions. Just make sure that you download the add-on from a website you trust! Therefore, I recommend getting a blocker from the browser-own offers (red box in the picture above).

I decide to go with the first one since it also as the highest valuation from users. In case I’m not satisfied with this blocker after a while using it I can always try different ones. So, you don’t need to stick to one once you got it! Feel free to try around.

So after clicking on the link, you click on the “Add” button in the top right corner:

When your browser asks you if really want to install this add-on, you approve.

Sorry, that this is German but I’m sure that the buttons are exactly the same in other languages.

Once you approved the installation, Chrome will automatically run the add-on and it’ll appear in the top right corner of your browser window – right next to other add-ons you might’ve installed such as a grammar check or a translator.

And now you should be saved from most of the annoying advertisements.Just note, some websites ask you to deactivate the blocker when you’re on their website. This is very common on websites from media channels, for example. Therefore, these blockers have the function to be completely deactivated or paused for certain websites. To make use of these settings simply click on the adblocker symbol and choose the option you need/want. This looks like this:

These adblockers are available for every common browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari etc.
