🏃 Run, Forrest, Run! – over the Keyboard! ðŸƒ

There’s something I need to show you guys. I don’t remember exactly when I heard of it the first time – what matters is, that I finally checked it out and it was FUN. I’m speaking of the website “typeracer”. Have you heard of it? You definitely should check it! Let me tell you what it is about.

To be honest, it is not a 10 of the fun scale but this “game” actually improves your skills (or is supposed to do that). With typeracer you basically improve the speed and accuracy of your English writing at a computer. You can sign up and compete with people around the world or just play as a guest – like I did.

You get a specific text that you need to write off as soon and as correct as possible.

This looks like this:

It is pretty self-explaining although I needed a moment to get what they wanted me to do because before you can start typing, they show you a “traffic light” with a countdown and after the light is green and the timer down then you hit the keys. Just try it, I’m sure you’ll get!

The texts are very diverse and have words of all difficulties. These texts are quotes from songtexts, books or even games. See the gallery:

Once you’re done, typeracer will tell you how fast you were – in actual time and how many words per minute (wpm) you can write – and how accurate you wrote. My very first attempt was 40wpm and 89.2 % accuracy. My best in the first thirteen attempts of today was 69wpm and an accuracy of 99.1% (YAY :D). But as you can see in the following screenshot, there’re people that are way better and faster.

I’m sure with training, though, everyone can get there to write with this enormous high speed. But when you’re a bloody starter as I am, you can compete with just me if you like. Start the first race and then just click on “New Race” and make a few attempts in a row.

So, do you want to accept the challenge and compete against me?

Here’s the link to TypeRacer: http://play.typeracer.com/ and then just click on “Enter a typing race”.
This is the chart of all of my attempts from today:

The last one is only so slow because I had to take a screenshot. 😀

Let me know how good you’ve been and leave a comment. I’m looking forward to it!
